Old Trafford
NOW
It’s a sunny afternoon with the sun blazing on every cut green grass on the pitch. You can see the shining light reflecting on the Stratford end and it has a feeling of that this is going to be a great match for the fans. You can hear the united fans in the home stand near the Stratford End, And they are chanting the team before and after the match. They are singing footballers names to get the team going. You can hear the guy at the start of the match telling the team news for both teams before the match starts. You can hear the united fans singing our song before the match starts. You can see 75,000 red seats in the stadium surrounding everyone and you can see the commentators box where they sit and talk about the game. You can see the united clothes shop just outside of the stadium. You can see the Man United kits staring at you on the window. You can touch the cut clean grass before the game and the seats that surround you with all of the fans in a jam-packed stadium.
I can touch the united kit that I have got on. It’s smooth and it has a feeling of victory. I can touch the feeling of having a hot dog before the game with ketchup and mustard dripping from my mouth. You can smell the people who are sat next to me in the stadium who have perfume and aftershave on and the smell is delicious and refreshing. I can smell the premier league trophy as soon as I see the trophy cabinet, it smells like victory.
You can taste the sweet success that the club have had at this football stadium for many years and you can taste the champagne when they are celebrating after winning the premier league trophy. You can taste the sensation of the whole atmosphere in the stadium and it feels electric, with the whole place buzzing. Also you can taste the fresh air with the weather nice and sunny and, the sunshine glowing in people’s faces with laughter and joy about the match that will commence.
THEN
You can see the 75,000 empty seats that surround you. You can see the sky which is grey and dull with rain pouring down on the pitch. You can see the empty Stratford End with barely no-one in it. Also you can see the empty directors box and you hardly see hardly anyone in the stadium. You can’t hear nothing and it is like being in a dark room with no noise or nothing. You can’t hear the voices of the united supporters, the only thing that you can hear is total and utterly silence. You can’t touch the shirts of the football players when they throw it at you. You can’t touch the players as they are celebrating scoring a goal at the Stratford end. You can’t see the statue of Sir Alex Ferguson because it is pitch black. You can’t see the excitement of the fans when they are cheering on the team, and when the match started it felt electric. Now it feels like the electricity in the whole stadium has been cut off and all you can see is emptiness and you can’t see the sun blazing on the stadium, but you can see the pitch black sky with lots of rain.
You can’t feel the electricity that the fans bring when it is match day and you feel lonely with no-one there beside you. It feels like you are in a movie where you are in the woods and someone is chasing you but you can’t turn to someone when you are in trouble and it feels exactly like that. You can’t taste the excitement in the stadium and all you can taste is the saltness of the rain dripping down your face and you can taste the tears dripping down from your eyes because your team has lost the game to their own rivals at your home stadium.
And finally you can’t smell the sweet success that you know that you have beating your rivals at your own stadium, whereas all you can smell now is the bitterness of the lose to your nearest rivals and that beats down on you. You then feel ashamed that you have to go school when you know full well that you are going to get hassled by your friends about your team’s performance.
